Kitchen Lead

Statement of the Job: Oversee food preparation, delivery, service, and documentation of meals in accordance with established standards of nutrition, health, and sanitation to all Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms. Provides program and nutrition support consistent with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations, Kansas State licensing, and applicable Head Start Performance Standards.

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent and experience in a responsible position; ability to work well with others and to communicate effectively; ability and willingness to support and follow all program regulations; ability to problem solve and respond appropriately to the unexpected (staff shortage, equipment malfunction, etc...); and working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures prescribed for kitchen production.

Program and Administrative Assistant

Statement of the Job: Provide administrative and clerical support to the Leadership Team, including meeting coordination; agency calendar management; travel arrangements; human resource related support/filing; assist with policy council and board report preparation. Responsible for coordinating with the supervisory staff the training and professional development opportunities for staff that meet and/or exceed the expectations of Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Head Start Performance Standards (HSPS); identify trainers, courses and other training resources; maintain records of training; may also provide training or orientation. Assist the agency with the scheduling, ordering, and coordinating of daily facility needs.

Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree required. 3+ years related work experience; proficiency in the use of Windows, Outlook, Excel, Work and PowerPoint; typing speed of 50 wpm or higher; excellent writing, analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-orientated, excellent spelling, grammar, editing and proofreading skills; strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills; considerable judgment, tact, discretion and ability to perform duties in a confidential manner; ability to work well independently or as part of a team; ability to prioritize work load; ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and skill sets. Knowledge of principles of practices of organization, planning, records management, and general administration; ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, telephone systems, calculators, copiers and facsimile machines.

Health and Nutrition Coordinator

Statement of the Job: The Health & Nutrition Coordinator ensures the program adheres to the Head Start Performance Standards, and state and local requirements regarding health and nutrition services. The Health & Nutrition Coordinator works with staff to coordinate health and nutrition services for families of children prenatal to age of five. The Health & Nutrition Coordinator provides technical assistance to program staff as needed and is responsible for providing health and nutrition trainings for the Early Head Start and Head Start staff and parents. The Health & Nutrition Coordinator will apply professional expertise through ongoing monitoring, mentoring, coaching, guidance and feedback to the health, nutrition for Early Head Start and Head Start children prenatal to age of five. The Health & Nutrition Coordinator is responsible to work in cooperation with all other disciplines (Education, Early Intervention/Disabilities, Family Support, Mental Health, Parent Involvement, and Administration) in order to provide coordination of health and nutrition, safety services, training and compliance monitoring. The Health & Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for the daily management of the services in these component areas and for the assurance of compliance and quality of services being delivered to children and families.

Required Qualifications: Professional expertise, including a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, in a relevant discipline, combined with at least 2 years of professional experience in the Health Services field, preferably in a social service environment. As well as certification to conduct hearing/vision screenings; knowledge of health related services to the community; knowledge of local and state licensing regulations; ability to handle duties in a self-directed manner; ability and willingness to work in a program in a high-risk, low income community; basic knowledge of computer applications and the ability to learn and master other computer technology/software programs as needed. Must be able to remain abreast of developments in the health and nutrition fields to enhance professional growth and development; have experience in menu planning including meeting needs of diverse populations and special diets; and knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines is essential. Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards is strongly desired.

Head Start Assistant Teacher

Statement of the Job: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for contributing to the planning, implementation and coordination of the comprehensive education program. The Assistant Teacher supports the teaching team in ensuring that the education program is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of the children as mandated by Head Start and state and local standards.

Required Qualifications: A Child Development Associate credential (CDA); or enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood or Child Development and one year’s experience is required.
